Shaking the sand

“You can shake the sand from your shoes but it never leaves your soul”

These are the words written on a wooden sign that hangs in my living room.

I picked it up on my honeymoon getaway with my ex husband while in the outer banks. It was a rainy gloomy day and we were trying to fin something to do to entertain us. We found ourselves in and out of thrift stores and antique shops looking for nothing in particular. I just knew this sign had to come home with us.

Sometimes you just know when something is right. I was drawn to those words and still am today. As I sit here looking at them on my decorated wall I can remember many points in my life where the saying rings true.

There are just some things in life that you are bonded to. They stick with you like the tiniest grain of sand even after your shook out your shoes and blanket.

It is a part of growing, growing up and sometimes growing apart; growing nonetheless.

I have experienced many good and bad things in life that fill up this category. Lessons learned , never regreting because it all builds up to who you are meant to be.

I am energized as my soul is full of wonder and ambition to complete the next goal. All of those little grains of sand still with me as I venture though the journey.
